Matt Wicks discusses the labor shortage many distribution centers are facing in response to significant e-commerce growth and how robots are helping offset some of these challenges. There’s still a great need for labor within distribution centers, seeing as how around 80 percent of distribution center operations are manual. Labor augmentation is a key benefit to robotic technology, allowing companies to continue to grow and expand their businesses. Robotics are applicable to a variety of areas in a distribution center such as case palletizing and depalletizing, truck loading and unloading, each picking, sorter induction and more.
