Countdown to MODEX! Top 10 Things to Do at the Show

Tens of thousands of people from over 110 countries are coming to Atlanta for a singular purpose. Know why?

No, not to win gold at the 1996 Olympics! But they are going to the same venue as the handball, fencing, judo, table tennis, weightlifting and wrestling events – the Georgia World Congress Center for MODEX 2018! From April 9–12, this year’s premiere supply chain show will host a variety of educational sessions and exhibits to help distribution, fulfillment and manufacturing operations find a competitive edge. To get the most from your time in Atlanta and at the show itself, check out these can’t-miss activities.

10. Dive in at the Georgia Aquarium

The second largest aquarium in the world is home to over a hundred thousand animals representing several thousand species. The Georgia Aquarium has live dolphin celebrations, interactive exhibits and the Ocean Voyager – a 6.3 million gallon tank with an underwater tunnel. Stroll through as enormous whale sharks and manta rays soar overhead.

9. Have a laugh with Jim Gaffigan

If you’ve seen Jim’s side splitting routines on everything from Hot Pockets to fatherhood, then you know he’s a comedic genius. Don’t miss Industry Night on Wednesday, April 11 with music, food, drinks and of course laughs provided by Jim. A portion of ticket sales will be donated to the Material Handling Education Foundation, Inc.

8. Learn from the pros

Free to all registered attendees, keynotes run each day and feature some of supply chain’s most influential players, like UPS CIO Juan Perez, as well as co-founder and co-director of the Initiative on the Digital Economy, Andrew McAfee.

And of course, to take the pulse of the industry, look no further than the MHI annual report and the accompanying panel discussion. This year’s edition will be moderated by George Prest, CEO of MHI and Scott Sopher, Principal of Deloitte Consulting’s Supply Chain practice, with input from a variety of end users and academics.

7. Put on your game face!

An unforgettable tribute to the greatest to ever play or coach the game, the College Football Hall of Fame is right in the heart of downtown Atlanta. There’s more than 95,000 square feet packed with 50 engaging and interactive exhibits – not to mention the 45-yard football field where you can kick a field goal, throw like a QB and try your rushing skills on the obstacle course.

6. Get the inside scoop with Honeywell Intelligrated educational seminars

Honeywell Intelligrated experts will present two seminars at the show. Don’t miss 10 Steps to Improve Operational Efficiency on Monday, April 9 at noon in theater G, presented by Chris Arnold, vice president, operations and solutions development. Then, Jason Franklin, product manager, labor and business intelligence will present Responding to Labor Management Challenges in an Omnichannel World at two times – Tuesday, April 10 at 10:30 a.m. in theater I and Thursday, April 12 at 12:45 p.m. in theater D.

5. Share a Coke

Conveniently located next to the Georgia Aquarium, World of Coca-Cola is a completely immersive experience into the iconic drink. Visit the actual vault that holds the secret Coke formula, have your mind blown in the 4D theater, interact with over 125 years of history and of course, taste over 100 different Coca-Cola beverages!

4. Hear the “dirtiest man on television”

Mike Rowe’s hit TV series, Dirty Jobs, gives viewers an up close and personal look at some of the nation’s most unsavory gigs. From maggot farming to sewer cleaning, Mike knows a thing or two about rolling up your sleeves and getting the job done, no matter what. On Wednesday, April 11 from 1–3 p.m., Mike will talk about the critical importance of skilled labor in our lives and economy.
