Intelligrated is proud to announce that its London manufacturing facility recently received ISO 9001:2008 certification. This is an improvement upon its previous delegation as an ISO 9001:2000 certified facility.

ISO 9001:2008 is an international standard that gives requirements for an organization's Quality Management System (“QMS”). It is part of a family of standards published by the International Organization for Standardization (“ISO”). To be eligible for registration, Intelligrated was audited by a third party, the nationally accredited firm QMI–SAI Global.

Receiving this ISO designation requires a tremendous effort. The requirements cover a wide range of topics, including top management's commitment to quality, customer focus, adequacy of resources, employee competence, process management (for production, service delivery and relevant administrative and support processes), quality planning, product design, review of incoming orders, purchasing, monitoring and measurement of processes and products, precision of measuring equipment, processes to resolve customer complaints, corrective/preventive actions and a requirement to drive continual improvement of the QMS. There is also a requirement to monitor customer perceptions about the quality of the goods and services it provides.

Keith Wells, Vice President of Manufacturing at Intelligrated, lead the effort for recertification. “ISO provides a basic structure for a business system. All processes are charted and documented, minimizing room for error. Well defined steps lead to repetitive cycles for improved effectiveness. This results in identifying, correcting, and improving performance. No area of quality can motivate people as much as improvement. When improvement processes are well planned and executed, people get enthusiastic. Refocusing the system on improved performance, better quality and lower cost has motivated everyone in the company.”, said Wells.

Intelligrated's accomplishment is published in the Directory of QMI–SAI Global Registered Companies: www.qmi–saiglobal.com. This certification is valid until 2012.
