The Intelligrated® Motorized Driven Roller Conveyor
Cincinnati, Ohio, September 29, 2008
Not all MDR conveyors are the same. The Intelligrated® MDR has evolved to become one of the most innovative products available in the industry today. Some of the basic features that differentiate the Intelligrated® MDR from its competitors include its design, functionality, and diagnostics.
While most MDR products are manufactured using costly aluminum, the Intelligrated® design uses a lower-cost steel frame. The result is a less expensive, more durable product. The Intelligrated® design also features true "plug-and-play" installation. As a result, our customers have realized a savings in installation costs. The ease of maintenance is yet another distinguishing feature that makes the Intelligrated® MDR an attractive choice. Very few spare parts are required and it only takes an average of 10 minutes to replace a single roller due to its self-contained technology. The new MDR also exceeds OSHA safety requirements.
The functionality of the Intelligrated® MDR is unique and versatile. The most important new feature is the long-carton detection capability which can handle cartons of any size and weight up to 70 pounds as a standard, as long as it can physically maneuver the transfers and curves. The MDR can be remote-controlled or locally controlled and be applied on inclines, declines, scan beds, or steerable wheel diverts. Additionally, the availability of variable speed operation allows for adjustability in throughput.
Another innovative feature that provides flexibility in the MDR functionality is the "Smart Release" feature. Standard MDR operate in singulation release. The "Smart Release" feature allows for slug release to maintain zero pressure accumulation with increased throughput in certain applications. This feature is especially appealing in applications where products of different sizes and weights are being transported.
The enhanced diagnostics available in the Intelligrated® MDR sets yet another benchmark in conveying technologies. It has the ability to detect misaligned photo eyes and to communicate this information downstream to other zones to eliminate jams. The reporting tools available, such as total run-time on the motors and the frequency of photo eye blocks, allows for maintenance planning and eliminates unnecessary downtime.
