Shhh... it's Quiet, Intelligrated Accumulation Conveyor receives Patent
Cincinnati, Ohio, November 30, 2005
Intelligrated has been awarded a patent on their industry leading accumulation conveyor pressure
shoe design. This unique feature provides several key benefits for the user particularly in the area
of noise reduction, maintenance and carton handling.
The design allows for simple configuration capability of the conveyor assembly for multiple
roller centers at the time of manufacture. Future changes to roller center configuration can be accommodated
after installation should product mix changes occur .The minimum roller center is 2" which allows
users to RELIABLY handle cartons as small as 6". With other industry leading equipment features available
to Intelligrated, entire systems can be configured to transport, accumulate and sort 6" cartons thus substantially
reducing the non conveyable SKU population within a facility. This means higher productivity for the distribution
center operator.
"We have seen a real need in the industry to be able to successfully handle smaller and smaller cartons. We regularly see customers limited to 9" case lengths largely due to their conveyor handling equipment. This limitation forces the DC operator to exclude a very substantial portion of their carton population from automated handling. This is a reduction in productivity that we think is unacceptable. We are changing that, our installed systems have the capability to handle cartons as small as 6" with wide variation in carton quality, weight, and loading characteristics at the highest speeds in the industry. The result is ultra high through put and higher productivity", said Jim McCarthy, President of Intelligrated.
